Bodega de la Haba Presents 'Brunch' with Author Douglas Light

'Brunch', to Gregory de la Haba, means a pint or two of Guiness, and fresh Utopia Bagels with a shmear.  Queens-born and Harvard-educated, de la Haba launched his 'Brunch with Authors' series with Douglas Light-the author of 'East Fifth Bliss' (now a feature film called 'The Trouble with Bliss', starring Michael C. Hall, Peter Fonda, and Lucy Liu; for which he also co-wrote the screenplay with director Michael Knowles).  Light's new work, 'Girls in Trouble', from which he read this past Sunday, won the Grace Paley Prize for short fiction.

For $15, the capacity crowd at Swift Hibernian Lounge, on East 5th St.(!), met a charming and charismatic Light, got some face-time with the author, and admission also included a Guiness, bagels, and a chance to win a print from de la Haba.  The downtown crowd was out in force, and the conversation flowed like great black stout.  The next event will take place at McSorley's in April.  For more info, go to Facebook Invite.
